How will you ‘Inspire Inclusion’ for this year’s international women’s day? We asked Adformers from across our global family to share their thoughts on this year’s theme and why inclusion is so important in the workplace.

At Adform, ‘change the game’ is a cornerstone of our philosophy. But this doesn’t apply to just driving innovation in technology, but also driving changes in our industry. By developing a meritocracy, where people are hired exclusively based on their talent, potential, and competency, we can create an inclusive and diverse workplace.

I’ve come across a term known as the “Goldilocks dilemma" which is something I can strongly relate to in my life. Be “too nice" and risk being seen as unfit for decision-making, or act assertively and face labels like "unlikeable.”  There are also certain cultural norms in India, often enforced unintentionally, that can hold back women, particularly when it comes to who is responsible for domestic tasks in the house.

The solution lies in dismantling these harmful stereotypes. Companies can train leaders to recognize bias, encourage women to communicate effectively, and implement policies that promote equality. Inclusive language in recruitment and unconscious bias training further paves the way. Initiatives like Adform's WomenGoTech offer mentorship and support, empowering women at all career stages. Open dialogue through Employee Resource Groups fosters understanding and community.

When I was a young singer growing up in the classical music world, there was a sense of competition that was pushed upon us by our teachers. At the age of 19, I was advised by the head of the opera department of my university that if I wanted to succeed, I needed to start acting like a diva. That appalling message pained me then and still makes me cringe.

What I experienced in the theatre, however, was quite the opposite. From an early age, there was a sense of equality and camaraderie we learned from one another. We celebrated our differences and our strengths and I’m thrilled to see young girls and boys have popular role models now that embrace that same sentiment.

The fact is we are all worthy of happiness and success and it is easier to procure if we unite as a community and lift each other up.

I spend a lot of time mentoring emerging female talent from the ad tech industry. I am passionate about this because when I started my media career in 2006, there were very few female role models available, and even fewer that were willing to give their time to support other women early in their career. At the time I was confused by this, but on reflection I think that many of these women were completely focussed on the fight for opportunities and equality, as key representatives of the female workforce. They were trailblazers, and at the time I did not realise they were paving the way for me. I am privileged to stand on their shoulders and to have the opportunity to support the next generation of women in a different way, reflecting the great progress we have made. This is what inspiring inclusion means to me – driving change through an ongoing conversation and increased understanding, rather than a fight.

I am a strong believer in equality no matter of sex, race, or anything unique to an individual. I think that true talent can live in any one of us no matter what our differences are. Companies who support good work and the creation of an open culture will automatically embrace inclusivity, in other words inclusive culture is born within from the people that work in the company.

In Adform, I love the fact my team is international by nature and we have strong and different individuals – it has also taught me a lot. I am proud that even with small steps, I can grow myself and my team in an environment where human rights and topics like inclusion have a stronger meaning than ever before. And I am privileged to have the ability to work for a company like Adform where these things are taken into the very heart of the company culture.

As a woman in the field of programming, which often is male dominated, I recognize that genuine gender equality in tech demands understanding the diverse experiences and challenges women encounter. With each woman shaped by cultural, educational, and socioeconomic factors, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I’ve been encouraged to see mentorship, scholarships, and access to coding programs to bridge the gender gap.

It's encouraging to witness Adform's proactive steps, including flexible work arrangements, 'Women In Tech' events, and tailored leadership programs.  By honouring women's diverse experiences, we pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future.”

As we approach International Women's Day on March 8th, let's imagine a world where diversity thrives. Picture a reality without bias, stereotypes, or discrimination—a world that embraces and celebrates our differences. Together, we can reshape the advertising landscape to embody genuine diversity, equity, and inclusion. I take pride in working for a company like Adform, where these values are deeply rooted in our culture. Let's honor women's achievements, raise awareness about discrimination, and actively pursue gender parity. Every step toward inclusion matters. Join me in championing diversity and creating a space where every voice is not only heard but valued.
