Premium fashion brands, with a strong presence in Central Europe, worked with Fragile Media CZ and Adform during the Christmas sales period to test whether optimizing for completed video views alone was enough for luxury advertisers operating in one of the most competitive retail periods of the year. Fragile Media activated Adform’s Audio and Viewable on Completion (AVOC) algorithm and benchmarked it against a traditional VCR approach. AVOC reduced media cost while improving key quality signals, including engagement and viewability, shifting delivery toward impressions more likely to be seen and heard. This supported brand-led video performance in a seasonal environment where competition for attention is high, and exposure quality can influence perception.

Why Adform:

Fragile Media CZ partnered with Adform to leverage programmatic video capabilities and AI-driven optimization aligned to brand outcomes. Adform helped move the campaign beyond surface-level video metrics by prioritizing impressions more likely to generate meaningful brand exposure, where the message had a higher chance of being properly seen and heard.

This gave the fashion brands a more effective way to prioritize high-attention viewing environments during the Christmas period, rather than optimizing purely toward completion volume. Instead of optimizing only for completed views, the campaign could prioritize delivery conditions that better reflect real attention and support more credible premium brands exposure.

Challenges:

The campaign ran during the Christmas season, a crucial period for the wider luxury category. Purchase decisions in this market link closely to emotion, timing, and brand perception, which made media quality a central requirement.

In a competitive environment, reaching users at scale did not meet the brief on its own. The campaign needed placements where video ads could be properly seen and heard, so the message landed as intended.

Traditional VCR optimization created a concrete limitation because it focuses on maximizing completions without accounting for whether the ad was viewable or audible. For a premium fashion brand, this constraint matters because exposure quality influences perception.

Solution:

Fragile Media CZ ran a structured test in Adform, comparing a standard VCR approach with AVOC. VCR prioritized completed video views, while AVOC applied a quality-led objective that used audibility and viewability signals to steer delivery toward inventory more likely to provide a clear viewing experience. This reduced delivery into low-attention environments where videos may complete without being properly seen or heard.

By taking multiple quality signals into account, the AVOC algorithm directed delivery toward higher-quality placements and audiences showing stronger engagement signals. This allowed the campaign to prioritize impressions with stronger attention potential rather than maximizing completion volume alone. For the premium fashion brands, the test demonstrated that optimizing toward attention signals rather than completion volume alone can improve both media efficiency and premium brand exposure during critical retail periods.

“With AVOC, we were able to move beyond traditional completion-based optimization and focus on the overall quality of video delivery. The combination of higher engagement, better viewability, and lower CPM clearly showed the added value of this approach.”
