Hello! I'm David and I'm the Sales Account Development Manager here in the Adform U.K. office. I joined in 2022, and working in adtech has been an extremely rewarding and exciting experience. The growth of the U.K. office and the wider company has been inspiring to see and be a part of. 

What brought you to Adform?

To be honest, I am a total newcomer to adtech. Before working for Adform, I worked in retail and did mainly freelance creative work such as photography/videography. 

I only came across Adform in particular during the recruitment process as I was looking to start a career in sales in the early part of 2022. At the same time, as chance would have it, the U.K. office was looking for a new Sales Account Development Manager. 

Part of the interview process required me to research the company and the industry to give an example of my presentation skills, which helped me piece together what I could about who Adform are and what they do.

My first interview was with Philip Acton, the Country Manager for the U.K., and James Urquhart, Director, Enterprise Sales, U.K. It seemed to go well, even though I presented without slides. They were impressed enough to invite me back (this time with a deck). Evidently, they liked what I had to say, and I have not looked back. 

 

What do you do on a daily basis at your job?

As Sales Account Development Manager, I look for new business opportunities in the U.K. market.

My role requires me to identify suitable advertiser or agency prospects in the U.K. This also involves reaching out to them with targeted messaging aimed at recognizing their varied needs and how Adform can solve them. On a day-to-day basis, this means emailing, calling, and reaching out on LinkedIn to build a relationship to the point where we can present Adform as a viable adtech partner. 

 

What is the most exciting thing you are working on at the moment?

At the moment I am looking for independent agencies in the U.K., some of which could provide some very valuable clients soon. At the start of this year, we are really hoping to get our name out there in the U.K. by setting up external 'Lunch-and-Learns' and attending marketing events. There are so many opportunities for us on the horizon.

On a more personal side, I am working on growing my personal style and brand via social media to be more recognized in the industry.

 

What is the work environment like at Adform?

There is nothing like being spurred on to greatness by being around ambitious teams who want to excel. 

It is often said that the adtech and digital advertising space is constantly evolving; Adform is actively engaged and determined to lead the charge — this means there is always activity at work, always new conversations to be had, and places to grow. There is always a new challenge or a new angle for a prospect. It is really refreshing! 

Thinking of the U.K. Office, we have great leaders who provide much-needed levity at times, and the growth here has been incredibly inspiring. I started in July and there have been at least nine additions after me as well as a few promotions in this office alone. What’s even more impressive is that everyone gels and vibes together. Again, probably a testament to the character and direction of the leadership. The spirit also seems to carry across the wider company. 

I'm very excited to see what the future brings.
