Cookie Setting Update According to New Chrome Security-First Policy

(January 30, 2020)

On February 4th, 2020 Google will release the new Chrome version, with an updated secure-by-default cookie setting policy. Starting with this version, Chrome will require all cookies to have Samesite=None; Secure settings.

Third-party Cookies without the Secure flag in them will be not available for external access.

With this release, Adform adjusts our cookie setting logic to retain the possibility to identify users in Chrome while complying with the new requirements.

Changes to Google’s Contextual Category Field

Starting this month, Google is discontinuing the inclusion of the contextual category field in bid requests. This means that you are no longer able to use free IAB category targeting (contextual category targeting) when purchasing Google ADX inventory. All line items targeting specific contextual categories with the free categories effectively cease buying Google ADX inventory.

Note that this only impacts Google ADX inventory, and other supply sources are not affected. The change is not anticipated to impact targeting options provided via integrated contextual partners.
