Service Reliability Engineer

We are looking for Service Reliability Engineer who has good understanding of large distributed systems and will focus on system reliability. Candidate will focus on two missions: operations and reliability of owned services and building broader understanding of SRE need for companywide critical services.

Mission one: reliability of owned services

In order to ensure reliability candidate will have to take care of the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of owned services. You will have closely work with development team, product managers and directors in order to align needs for all listed responsibilities, often by providing working examples and options. You will have to engage in system design and planning. You will help in recognizing patterns of resilient architecture, planning operational automation design and effort of automation of operations.

Mission two: broader understating of SRE need

Candidate will be closely collaborating with the rest of organization to discover other most important areas that requires SRE effort throughout various ways. For example, running redundancy check for companywide critical services. Take part in designing and executing resilience and recoverability tests for mentioned services. Build tooling that will benefit for owned services, but also companywide.

As Site Reliability Engineer you will:

  • Focus on reliability of on infrastructure and application level
  • Will be responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning of owned services
  • Test resilience and recoverability
    • Constantly for owned services 
    • Occasionally for companywide critical services
  • Build and provide tooling to support testing mentioned above to you and Engineers
  • Automate. You will build automation tooling
  • Work closely with Engineers and Architects to improve achievement of scalability and availability, while limiting operational overhead
  • Drive efficiencies in systems and processes
  • Provide visibility and reporting on Key Metrics and SLAs

  • Have good understanding of large-scale distributed systems in practice
  • Have good understanding of monitoring, configuration management, security and storage tools and systems
  • Have good knowledge on the TCP/IP stack, routing and load balancing
  • Have experience with Linux and Windows and good understating of its fundamentals and internals including networking and hardware
  • Have programming skills
  • Be fluent in English

It is beneficial if you have experience working with:

  • Experience with cloud like AWS, Open stack, Azure
  • Configuration management tools like Salt, Puppet or Chef
  • Scripting experience in Python, bash and power shell
